Truth Thursday 01: I Am Here

You’ve got this amazing creature—yourself—that can breathe, dance, and cry. And you have a certain amount of moments (maybe a few million moments—but moments they are) and you have this chance to do absolutely anything—to reach out to another vulnerable and true. To dance on the roof of euphoria and pray beside the ocean to let go. We have the chance every moment to Be Alive and give to this world who needs each one of us so badly.

This is it! The first of the new Truth Thursdays! I feel like we’re on a brink of something great, much like we’re about to go on a journey  to a place where we haven’t been before. There is a plan and a destination, but oh, so much road between the the first step and the last!

Sometimes, I think, that in the great excitement of What’s Next we forget the Here and Now. Since Truth Thursdays is mostly about stopping and thinking and reflecting and being inspired—let’s shine a spotlight on the Present and find the beautiful Here.

And with that, we present our very first Truth Thursday:

I Am Here

To review on how to do this Truth Thursday thingy again, do read the Truth Thursdays Mechanics & Guidelines.

  2. I’ve always lived my life with this thought in mind: “do something today you’ll be grateful for tomorrow.” I’m very much into long term goals, but i do get very antsy. I tend to worry too much.

Recently, I’ve been spending so much time with my grandmother. She is 89 and in good health, something the family is very grateful for. She’s lived a full life and I couldn’t help but be impressed by her good humor (She is also the snarkiest woman alive, yes.). However, she gets periodically sad and feels useless. I guess this is normal, since my lola was VERY independent in her youth.

So going back to “do something today you’ll be grateful for tomorrow.” i’m glad to be spending time with my lola. Also, it’s a great opportunity to share about Jesus with her and make her feel loved. In a way, it’s like I’m showing her how what she did in the past translates to something in the future—which is now her present. Her grand kids are with her. She raised her children to the best of her abilities and they’re quite alright. This also makes me think of all the other things I am thankful for, no matter how simple. Like eating breakfast with my child, talking with friends, or simply staring at my plate that’s full of food. The idea of gratefulness for the moment tempered by thoughts about the future translates to so many possibilities for the now. And these must not go to waste.
